It’s one of the most frequent questions we get, and it’s a great one! The site layout and aesthetic for your event has to be perfect so it’s important to understand the space required for the food trucks you’re booking.
What type of vehicle will be catering?
In general food trucks need about 25-35 feet of flat space to park. Trailers and carts need more room as they’re towed in using another vehicle, figure at least 50 feet. Trailers and carts, in general, need a bit more space to navigate the property so make sure there’s ample space throughout.
Where is the location?
Will your event take place at your home? At your place of business? At a public park? At a farm or barn?
Each venue has their particular layout and knowing the site helps food trucks load in with simplicity. If the event is at a residence typically food trucks will park in the driveway. Some clients request the truck park in the backyard. If this is the case ensure there is firm, flat ground for the truck and understand that this is a heavy machine that may impact the property.
If the event is at a place of business in a city there may be permits required if parking on public property. Typically parking in a loading dock or private lot would not require additional permitting. If the event is at a place of business in the suburbs or more spread out area make sure there are cones indicating where you’d like the truck to park. Obvioulsy, if the event is being held at a public parc or other space make sure to check with the local municipality to see if trucks are allowed and if there are any permits required.
Are there other trucks onsite?
Sometimes more than one truck participates in an event. In this instance it’s helpful to have a site map or aerial photo to help drivers navigate the area and know where to park.
